This book was first published in Great Britain in 1882, and there have been scores of editions since then. Mary Jones, a young Welsh girl had a great longing for a Bible. She worked and saved for six years to have enough money to purchase one (when she was 16). Her hunger for the Word of God led directly to the organization of the British and Foreign Bible Society on December 7, 1802. It was soon followed by the Bible Society of the Netherlands in 1814, the American Bible Society in 1816, the National Bible Society of Scotland and many others since then.
